Sadia has worked as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator for over 10 years in both clinical and community settings. She has a Masters of Science in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph. She is also certified as a Bariatric Educator with the Canadian Obesity Network and supports clients in managing their weight.
Sadia specializes in nutrition therapy for chronic disease management including diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol and obesity. She is also passionate about prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum nutrition, and has over 8 years’ experience working with women during their pregnancy journey.
Sadia uses motivational interviewing and mindful eating principles in her counselling sessions. She believes in the importance of recognizing the role food plays in our daily lives, culture, celebrations and values. Therefore her focus is to provide client centred care and involve clients in all aspects of their treatment plan.
Sadia has published her Master’s thesis in a peer reviewed journal. She has also worked with the Canadian Diabetes Association to develop culturally relevant nutrition counselling tools for Canadian South Asians living with diabetes.
In her spare time, she loves to spend time with family, tend to her vegetable garden and cook different ethnic foods. Sadia is also fluent in 3 South Asian languages (Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi).
